Classic Spaghetti Bolognese Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 500g New Zealand Premium Grass-Fed Super Lean Beef Mince
  • 400g spaghetti
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, finely chopped
  • 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
  • 400g canned crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for serving)
  • Fresh basil leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Beef Mince:

    • Heat a large skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat.
    • Add a drizzle of olive oil and the finely chopped onion. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
    • Add the minced garlic and sauté for another 30 seconds, or until fragrant.
    • Add the New Zealand Premium Grass-Fed Super Lean Beef Mince to the pan. Break it up with a wooden spoon and cook until it's browned and no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking.
  2. Add Vegetables:

    • Add the finely chopped carrot and celery to the pan. Sauté for an additional 5 minutes, or until the vegetables start to soften.
  3. Tomato Base:

    • Stir in the tomato paste, dried oregano, and dried basil. Cook for 2 minutes to release the flavors.
  4. Crushed Tomatoes:

    • Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes. Mix well, and then reduce the heat to low. Let the sauce simmer for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. If it gets too thick, you can add a splash of water.
  5. Season and Simmer:

    • Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste. Remember, you can always adjust the seasoning later, so start with a little and add more if needed.
    • Continue to simmer the sauce on low heat, allowing it to thicken and the flavors to meld together.
  6. Cook Spaghetti:

    • While the sauce is simmering, cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions until it's al dente. Drain and set aside.
  7. Serve:

    • Once the Bolognese sauce is rich and thick, it's ready. Spoon it generously over the cooked spaghetti.
    • Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves if desired.
  8. Enjoy:

    • Serve your classic Spaghetti Bolognese hot, and savor the delicious combination of the flavorful beef mince sauce and perfectly cooked spaghetti.
